GRR is proud to present the results of our second Women in Restructuring survey, which highlights the achievements and experiences of 40 female restructuring practitioners at various stages of their careers. We unveiled the survey at our first-ever conference specifically tailored to women, held in London in November and co-organised with IWIRC, where we also recognised three women in the industry’s past, present and future with awards. Photos and coverage of the conference, awards and our survey are all inside.

Elsewhere, we have the latest edition in our Worked Out series, which this time sees us turn our attention to Spain – where the success of its homologation legislation adopted in the wake of the financial crisis has put an end to the days of habitual COMI shifts to the UK.

We also interviewed INSOL International’s new president, Alvarez & Marsal managing director Julie Hertzberg, who spoke about diversity, cars and global awareness; and with Fried Frank’s restructuring and insolvency chair Brad Eric Scheler, who discusses the “magic” of distressed investing.

Finally, in addition to our regular columns, we include features about two of the most discussed restructurings of recent years. Charles Russell Speechlys’ Roger Elford writes about the restructuring of Bahamian resort Baha Mar and recent developments in debtor-in-possession frameworks across the world, while Goodwin Procter’s Simon Thomas and Oonagh Steel consider whether more US companies will follow logistics company Syncreon in using English schemes of arrangement.
